Proud Indigenous man, Andy Muirhead was joined by teammates to unveil the 2021 Plus500 Indigenous Jersey which they will wear in Rugby Australia's first ever Super Rugby AU First Nations round.
This year's First Nations jersey is similar to last year’s strip, designed by Budda Connors with help from some of the players and will be worn in tomorrow night’s Grand Final rematch against the Queensland Reds at GIO Stadium, on Ngunnawal country.
The jersey represents the side through the Brindabellas in the background of the artwork, as well as having 10 u-shaped footprints in the front which represent the Indigenous players who have played for the Brumbies.
Muirhead is proud of the jersey and how the rest of the team have embraced Rugby Australia's first ever Super Rugby AU First Nations round.
“The orange, gold colour the jersey sticks out to me and represents the Brumbies well,” said Muirhead.
“The jersey is pretty special and I am excited to wear it this weekend in the First Nations round.
“I hope the round stays around for many years to come.”
Throughout the week the team participated in some educational activities, travelling to Tharwa where they cooked Kangaroo and Barramundi with traditional herbs and spices.
They also went to Burrunju Art Gallery where they learned about and participated in Indigenous artwork and traditions.
“It's made me happy to see the boys embrace this week and to hear feedback saying they want to do more and learn more about my culture,” Muirhead said.
The Plus500 Brumbies finalised their preparation for the huge clash at GIO Stadium this morning.
