Super W star Sammie Wood believes the Brumbies still have room to improve, despite their impressive unbeaten start to the 2020 season.

The Brumbies are currently two wins from two after beating the Melbourne Rebels 25-22, Wood kicking a late penalty-goal to seal the victory but face their toughest test to date tomorrow against the Waratahs.

Seeking a third successive Super W crown, the Sydneysiders also boast an unblemished record this season, but Woods says her side will travel up the Hume Highway ready to have a red-hot crack at the Champions.

“I think everyone is very keen to get out there and have a go, “Wood said.

“We didn’t come off our best week. First game (against Rugby WA) we played to our ability. I think we let the Melbourne Rebels get into the game a bit more than what we were hoping.

“We just need to do the simple things well.”

The former Canberra United Footballer has been in impressive form with the boot this season, having only missed one kick as well as currently being the leading point scorer in the competition.

“To be honest I am just going with the flow, I just like to have a go, “Wood explained.

“I’ve been focussing on the actual moment and working with a few people that are dear to me. To help me focus on that moment and get the job done.”

Head coach Adam Butt, although content with his side’s current run of victories, says performance levels will need to be lifted, if the Brumbies are to compete with the defending premiers.

“Definitely not the performance we were after [against the Rebels],” Butt said.

“When you win you win, and you take the win every time they can give you one. If you get into the habit of winning, it is actually hard to get out of.

“We are hoping that habit continues this week and look it’s not the performance we wanted, but we know that. We have got to work on a few things and that’s what we have done.”
