Nic Henderson has been a quiet but extremely reliable and hard-working performer for the CA Brumbies over the past four seasons. The loosehead prop, who was statistically one of the best performing front rowers in last year’s Investec Super 14, has appeared in 50 consecutive matches for the CA Brumbies since making his debut against Auckland in 2004. Starting in all but one match for the CA Brumbies, Henderson was considered desperately unlucky to be overlooked for Wallaby selection and instead continued to ply his trade for the Australia A side in the Pacific Nations Cup. Henderson started in four matches for Australia A at both tighthead and loosehead prop. The 26 year old returned to the national capital in August as a senior member of the Navy Canberra Vikings in the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship. Having toiled valiantly in starting in each of the Navy Canberra Vikings’ first seven matches, Henderson was ruled out of their final fixture to undergo shoulder surgery to ensure he would be available for the beginning of the 2008 Investec Super 14 season.

Born in Millmerran, Queensland, Henderson moved to Wagga Wagga as a child where he took up rugby league for Turvey Park. He attended Kooringal High School before winning a contract with the Melbourne Storm in 2000. After two seasons of league, where he spent the majority of his time with Storm feeder club Norths in Brisbane, Henderson switched to rugby. He made an immediate impression in his first season with the Canberra Vikings and was rewarded with selection in the Australian Under 21’s. He was signed to a full-time contract with the CA Brumbies the following year to develop his game alongside Wallaby props Bill Young and Ben Darwin. Henderson made his Super 12 debut in Week One of the 2004 season against the Blues at Canberra Stadium before going on to make his Test debut against the Pacific Islanders in Adelaide.
