ACT REFEREE SELECTED FOR ARU LEVEL 3 REFEREE COURSE
ACT Referee Andrew Crozier has been selected by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) to undertake the Level 3 Refereeing Course, held in Sydney in January. He joins Matt O'Brien (QLD), John Christophersen (QLD), Callan O'Neill (NSW) and Anthony Moyes (NSW) as the participants in the 2010 program. Since arriving from the UK three years ago, Drew has refereed consistently in the ACT Rugby Union competition and recently officiated at the U16 National Championships at Riverview, Sydney. Current ACT referees who have successfully completed this program include Brett Bowden and Sarah Corrigan. WILLIAM BOYLE WINS B.A.R TROPHY FOR 2009 Congratulations to William Boyle who is the recipient of the B.A.R trophy winner for 2009. The B.A.R trophy is the award given to the referee that the Senior Coaching and Grading committee deem to be the most improved senior referee. William was presented with this award at the Referee Presentation night in September. Other award winners included Brett Bowden, who won the Peter Lawler Trophy for Referee of the year for the second consecutive year (chosen by the respective club coaches on a 3,2,1 basis and originally presented at the MacDougall Medal dinner), Cameron King who won the award for Best U19 referee and Benjamin Nelson who received the most improved U19 referee.
