The Baulderstone Buddy a Brumby program took Joe Tomane and Tom Cox to Turner School in Canberra City on Friday morning where the boys refereed a game of touch, signed autographs and answered questions for their younger fans.
The two Queenslanders are not huge fans of the cold, and with snow falling around parts of Canberra the session was moved indoors.
Cox said he could remember sportsmen and women visiting his school and was happy to get involved with the program.
“Being a Uni-Norths player, Turner School is very close to ANU so it’s important we are visible and present in the community, Cox said.
“I can still remember the times when sports people came to my primary school, it had a big impact on me and how I participated in sports.
“Hopefully with the players filtering through schools around the ACT a few more kids might head down to their local junior club and tie on a pair of boots.”
The Baulderstone Buddy a Brumby pairs players with schools which are in close proximity to their clubs.
