Six Brumbies Rugby players to face Samoa

Six players from the 2011 CA Technologies Brumbies 2011 squad will feature for the Wallabies this Sunday when the Australians play their first international of the year against Samoa at ANZ Stadium in Sydney

Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Matt Giteau, Pat McCabe and Rocky Elsom have all be named in the run on team, with McCabe set to make his run-on debut at inside centre and Elsom named as skipper of the side.

In what will be McCabe’s second cap for the Wallabies, the hard running back in adjusting to a recent move to the No 12 jersey having played the majority of his between jerseys 13-15.

But his strong performances at the tail end of the season – particularly against the Rebels in Canberra – have suggested the move to inside centre could have been a master stroke by Brumbies Rugby coaching staff.

Consistency is a theme for the Wallabies team in 2011, with many of the players chosen to play in their usual representative positions rather than where they may have largely featured at club level.

Two examples of this are Alexander and Ashley-Cooper, who although did end up being used sparingly at tighthead prop and outside centre respectively, will return to the rolls they filled last year when the Wallabies were firing on all cylinders.
