Kitting up for OzHarvest

The CA Technologies Brumbies will sport a new sort of yellow sock this weekend when they take on the NSW Waratahs to raise cash and awareness for their No 1 ticket holders OzHarvest Canberra.

The socks will be similar to the ones worn against the Reds last year but the 2011 version includes the words OzHarvest down the calf.

OzHarvest Canberra Manager Dave Burnet said he was thrilled with the support the CA Technologies Brumbies had shown his charity and that he was looking forward to a tough encounter with the Waratahs on Saturday night.

“The support we have received from the CA Technologies Brumbies has been fantastic, the club has really made a huge effort to help OzHarvest and we are always thankful for everything they do for us,” Burnet said.

“When the boys wore yellow socks in 2010, they always seemed to play a bit better. Against the Reds was one of their best games of the year so hopefully we can see some of the same success again.”

“We will all be there cheering them on come Saturday night. The CA Technologies Brumbies are vital part of the community and we are proud to share an association with them.”

In what may be his last season of rugby in Canberra, CA Technologies Brumbies Captain Matt Giteau is looking to make the most of every opportunity he has been given. That will continue on Saturday, when the champion fyhalf wears yellow socks to show support for OzHarvest.

“As our No 1 ticket holders, we are always proud to represent OzHarvest, both on and off the field,” Giteau said.

“If that means swapping our traditional socks for the Waratahs match then we are more than happy to do that, raise awareness for a great organisation and hopefully sneak away with a win too.”

OzHarvest has a limited number of socks which they will sell at the ground for $20.

The CA Technologies Brumbies face the NSW Waratahs at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night, kick-off at 7.40pm.
