Rea names team to take Canes

The CA Technologies Brumbies have named a team to take on the Hurricanes at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night, with no changes to the starting line up from last week’s narrow loss to the Highlanders at Invercargill.

Moving to an extended bench for the game is Pat McCabe, who is hoping for a return from a minor hamstring injury he suffered at training days before the Week Six clash with the Waratahs.

McCabe had been one of the CA Technologies Brumbies stand-out performers in the opening weeks of competition and will be a welcome addition to the team should he feature on Saturday.

The successful playmaking trio of Matt Giteau, Christian Lealiifano and Matt Toomua at 10, 12 and 15 remains the same. Earlier in the week, Captain Matt Giteau reflected on the need to grow combinations within the team.

“I thought it [10, 12, 15] worked well, it served its purpose as far as giving us opportunities,” Giteau said.

“For me personally I felt like it gave us a bit more room out wide to have a crack with the ball in hand.

“You know it’s only going to get better – that was a short turn around we’ve got a longer week this week and if they stick with the same combination we are only going to be better.

“Just knowing who’s going to be 10 and getting that rotation working better is going to be a positive for us out there.”

The Hurricanes also named a consistent team from last week’s line-up (with one change) and will be hungry for a win after securing just one victory in the opening seven weeks of 2011.

The CA Technologies Brumbies face the Hurricanes at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night. Kick-off is at 7.40pm.
