Sam Carter is an inspirational leader and one of the premier tighthead locks in Australia.

Carter skippered the Brumbies admirably for the first time in 2017, leading the side through a transitional season after the departure of some key experienced players.

The son of former Wallaby David Carter, Sam attended rugby nursery the Scots College in Sydney before going on to represent Sydney University in the Shute Shield until the end of 2010.

The 28-year old made his debut for the Brumbies in 2011 against the Melbourne Rebels and has gone from strength to strength, making 93 appearances for the side in seven seasons.

The lock is known for his impressive work rate and strong set piece ability, Carter is a general at the lineout and always gives his prop’s good support in the scrum.

Carter made his debut for the Wallabies in 2014 against France at Suncorp Stadium and has gone on to make 16 appearances for his country including being a part of the Wallabies 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign.

With Carter, Rory Arnold and Blake Enever, the Brumbies possess a talented locking trio the envy of the rest of the Super Rugby competition.
