When he made his debut for the Brumbies in the final game of the regular season in 2017, Ryan Lonergan got a taste of the life he was working towards.

A teenager and Super Rugby player, 2017 promised so much for the halfback but unfortunately for Lonergan, chances in a Brumbies jersey didn’t come in 2018.

However, after a successful campaign at the U20 World Cup with the Junior Wallabies where he served as captain, Lonergan was rewarded with a new two-year deal with the club.

Lonergan announced himself to rugby fans Australia wide as a 17-year old, the schoolboy putting in a string of sensational performances for the Brumbies in the inaugural Super U20’s competition in 2016.

His strong display during the competition put him on the radar of coaches everywhere and, after the youngster backed it up at the National Schoolboys Carnival with the ACT, he was swooped up by the Brumbies on a Development Contract.

Lonergan has all the makings of an excellent professional, and his demeanor suggests that he will never shirk on putting in the work.

As he develops, playing in the NRC and at club level with the Vikings, we’ll no doubt see a big progression from the Brumbies scrumhalf. A local kid, living out his dream, with a two-year contact in his back-pocket, the future is bright for Ryan Lonergan.
