You wouldn’t know it from looking at him, but Nick Jooste is only 18 years old. The Western Australian stands at 190cm and weighs in at 94kg, not looking out of place at all in a professional rugby environment.

Jooste made headlines in 2015 after videos of him kicking successful conversion attempts from 60 metres out went viral.

Jooste comes from the Western Australian rugby nursery that is the Hale School. The school has produced no less then six professional players in the last eight years, an incredible feat for a school located in an area where Rugby is not traditionally played. Jooste captained the Hale School’s first XV to the Brother Redmond Cup in 2015 and in three seasons of first XV compiled over 450 points.

In signing with the Brumbies, Jooste becomes only the sixth player to be signed to a Super Rugby contract whilst still in high school, joining Kurtley Beale, Quade Cooper, James O’Connor, Luke Jones and Chris Feauai-Sautia in an illustrious club.

It capped off a succesful year for Jooste who was selected in the Australian Schools Barbarians before being promoted to the Australian Schoolboys.

Jooste represented Perth Spirit in the 2015 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship, and scored one long-range try. The Schoolboy sensation turned heads in the NRC with his kicking game and vision around the field.

Jooste has joined the Brumbies on a two-year deal for 2016 and 2017.
