Bruising Brumbies winger Lausii Taliauli showed just what a talent he is in 2018. Injuries perhaps slowed Taliauli’s progression in seasons past, but last season Taliauli was able to stay on the pitch and was excellent when he got a chance to play.

His performance against the Sharks was particularly impressive, his finishing ability and general-power bringing plenty of plaudits in that game.

A former NRL Player with the Gold Coast Titans, Taliauli attended rugby nursery The Southport School on the Gold Coast, where he excelled in the 15-man game.

Taliauli linked up with the Titans straight after school before moving on to the Australian Sevens Program in 2013, he would make his debut on the HSBC World Sevens Circuit the following year.

After a stellar season with the Vikings for the 2014 National Rugby Championship, Taliauli was rewarded with a Brumbies contract for the 2015 Super Rugby season, debuting against the Reds in Canberra.

Taliauli would go on to make 15 appearances during his first two years in the Nation’s Capital, scoring three tries and impressing with his elite speed and dazzling footwork.

A torn ACL during a pre-season fixture against the Australian Barbarians robbed Taliauli of his 2017 season, the 25-year old needing season ending surgery to repair his knee.

When not required in the matchday squad, Taliauli was sensational for his club, the Canberra Royals, helping guide them to the John I Dent Cup Grand Final.

Taliauli was magic in that game, scoring the try of the day, though it wasn’t enough to win them back-to-back Premierships.

Still, the winger was one of the stars of the day, and after a very successful NRC campaign, Taliauli will be back to wreak more havoc in 2019. With plenty of wing options, expect Taliauli to perhaps play some at outside centre as well.
