Lachlan McCaffrey retuned to the Brumbies in 2018 a different player than the one who left.

A journeyman of sorts, McCaffrey began his career at the Waratahs in 2010 where he made one appearance off the bench against the Cheetahs in Sydney.

The former Riverview student played for Eastwood in the Shute Shield before getting another crack at Super Rugby, this time with the Western Force in Perth.

McCaffrey spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Force, the backrower making seven appearances with the side before departing for the Brumbies prior to the 2014 Super Rugby season.

Whilst at the Brumbies McCaffrey made eight appearances for the side and scored one try, he departed at the end of the season for London Welsh in the English Championship.

Following a strong season with Welsh McCaffrey was swooped up by the Leicester Tigers in England’s top tier where he would become a key cog in a successful machine.

McCaffrey would go on to make 47 appearances and score five tries in two seasons at Leicester, enjoying the most successful spell of his career.

McCaffrey has an elite rugby mind and a wide range of skills which he has no fear in using.

Twenty minutes into the season, McCaffrey was thrust into a prominent role in the side and was outstanding from the off, scoring a try some forty seconds into his second stay at the Brumbies.

A highlight-reel packed season for McCaffrey last year, the Brumbies will rely on him gain in 2019.
