Jordy Smiler is the all-round athletic machine with a well-rounded nature that all teammates want by their side.

2015 was supposed to be Smiler’s last in the nation’s capital however due to personal and family reasons, he will remain a part of the team for 2016, and no one could be happier than the rest of the Brumbies squad.

When Sam Carter went down injured against the Bulls in 2015, Smiler came on as a replacement. It will go down as a memorable injury – as Smiler crossed for his first Super Rugby try in the match.

Yet another of the Brumbies boys to play for Waikato, Jordy began his professional playing career in the ITM Cup playing in numerous seasons out of the Hamilton based club. After quickly being noticed for his all-round talents, Smiler began plying his trade in 7’s and was eventually included in the New Zealand national squad. In a twist of fate for Smiler, he never debuted for the New Zealand 7’s side making him eligible to move to Australia.

In 2011 he moved across the ditch to NSW where he could be found playing for Northern Suburbs in Sydney’s Shute Shield, alongside Scott Sio. While making a name for himself there, he was called up to the Australian 7’s team where he made his national representative debut.

By the end of 2012 Jordan had been given the chance to take up an EPS contract with the Brumbies, and from there he hasn’t looked back.

This season should prove most fortunate for one of the Brumbies most likable blokes.
