Powerhouse Brumbies winger, Chance Peni is back for the 2019 season, ready to show more of the potential world-class ability he has in a Brumbies shirt.

Born in Invercargill in New Zealand, Peni and his family moved to Perth whilst he was a young boy. He played both Rugby League and Rugby Union growing up before moving to Newcastle and signing with the NRL’s Knights.

After two years with their junior teams Peni signed a two-year contract with the Wests Tigers, he wouldn’t make a First Grade appearance for the side but would make his international debut with the Cook Islands.

In late 2016 Peni decided to return home to Perth and take up a contract with the Western Force under new Head Coach Dave Wessels. A skillful winger with silky skills and electric pace, Peni dominated the early rounds of Super Rugby in 2017, scoring a highlight reel of tries and igniting what had in previous seasons been a below par Force attack.

When he did play last season, Peni looked the goods, and with a unique blend of physical attributes and aggression in the point of contact, the former league-player will no doubt be gunning for a spot in the Brumbies starting ranks.

Peni will be competing with the likes of Henry Speight and new signing Toni Pulu, but if the flashes in 2018 are anything to go by, he’ll certainly have more than half-a-chance, his three tries in seven appearances a decent return.

A solid NRC with the Canberra Vikings hints that the future is bright, we can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for Chance Peni.
