One of the most experienced players in the Brumbies squad, Andrew Smith is entering his eighth Super Rugby season with the Franchise.

A versatile backline player hailing from Sydney’s Northern Suburbs, Smith began his rugby career with the Central Coast Rays in the now defunct Australian Rugby Championship before catching on with the Brumbies in 2010.

Smith made his Brumbies debut the same year against the Blues at Eden Park, the youngster not looking out of place at the top level. After making 50 appearances in his first stint with the Brumbies, including playing in 2013 Super Rugby Grand Final, Smith made the move to the Northern Hemisphere to link up with Irish province Munster.

The Australian was a revelation during his time in Ireland, helping his side to a Pro12 Grand Final berth and scoring six tries during his time in Limerick.

After a short stint at French club Montpellier, Smith returned home to Canberra and the Brumbies prior to the 2016 Super Rugby season.

At 194cm tall, Smith brings a unique size and skillset several different backline positions at the Brumbies, giving Head Coach Dan McKellar options around the field. The 33-year old’s versatility will be a big asset to the Brumbies in 2018.
