Andrew Smith returns to the Brumbies after a season plying his trade in Europe.

Originally from Sydney’s northern suburbs, Smith is a former Australian Sevens and U19’s representative and brings extensive experience and poise to the Brumbies potent backline.

Smith made 50 appearances for the Brumbies between 2010 and 2014, becoming a favourite of the coaching staff for his versatility and ability before moving to Ireland and linking up with Munster in the Pro12 competition.

Smith impressed for the Irish province, scoring five tries and helping the side to a second place finish on the Pro12 table and a Grand Final berth. In the decider, he was one of Munster’s best, scoring their only try in a narrow defeat to the Glasgow Warriors.

After the end of the Pro12 season Smith linked up with former mentor and Brumbies coach Jake White at Montpellier Herault (France), where he was a standout, providing stability and experience to a talented backline.

Smith’s return to the Brumbies backline adds depth to a number of key positions and he will be a valuable asset for the side in both 2016 and 2017.
