Toni Pulu joins the Brumbies for 2019, having scored four tries in 11 games last year for the Chiefs. Pulu played three successful seasons with the Waikato outfit after impressing for many years with Counties Manukau. He has that something special, dancing feet with rockets attached to them.
Pulu’s former coach Dave Rennie described him as the fastest man in rugby when he first joined the Chiefs, running 40 metres in a blazing 4.78 seconds. Amazing pace, but with power to break through contact as well. Pulu had 35 tackle busts in his 11 appearances, adding in three try-assists to boot.
The sum of it is Pulu is a multi-tooled winger and Brumbies fans should be excited about watching him in the capital. Pulu will bolster a Brumbies attack which was on fire to finish 2018, adding to a stock of wingers which already includes Henry Speight, Andy Muirhead and Chance Peni.
