Andy Muirhead’s Brumbies career started about as well as anyone can hope for. Two tries off the bench in Buenos Aires 2017 saw Muirhead earn a contract for last season, and despite it being his first full-season as a Super Rugby player, the wing/fullback didn’t look a step out of place. Opportunities were few and far between at times to start 2018 because of the wealth of options the Brumbies had in Muirhead’s position. When he did play he was excellent and, towards the end of the season, Muirhead cemented his spot on the left wing, forming a deadly trio with Henry Speight and Tom Banks. Returning from their tour to South Africa, the Brumbies back-three was Super Rugby’s best and Muirhead looked comfortable beside his international teammates. Then, to cap off his first full year, Muirhead scored one of the tries of the year in the Brumbies hammering of the Waratahs in Sydney. Expect more Muirhead magic is 2019.
