The Brumbies brand continues to strengthen both domestically and internationally.
The Brumbies now outrank the Reds when it comes to total TV audience for the season. With a strong global brand the Brumbies have managed to secure major sponsorships from Hong Kong, Israel and the United Kingdom.
The Brumbies have the highest percentage of members per capita of any Super Rugby franchise. When many of the teams’ TV audience declined in 2016 the Brumbies had a boost, especially in emerging markets like the UK and Japan. When the Brumbies were featured on Fox Sports they delivered an average viewership of 68,600 more than the Reds, Force and Rebels and behind only the Waratahs. Out of the top ten matches shown on Fox Sports in 2016, the Brumbies feature on four occasions. The Brumbies draw a crowd wherever they play, and therefore add additional revenue into the system.
The Brumbies have the most storied history of any Australian Super Rugby franchise. They have reached six finals and been crowned Champions on two occasions. Founded in 1996 the Brumbies reached their maiden final a year later and first tasted success in 2001 defeating the Sharks 36-6 in the Final in front of a crowd of 26,271 at Bruce Stadium. The team repeated the feat in 2004 with the epic 47-38 success over the Crusaders in the showdown which was, once more, played at Bruce Stadium. A huge crowd of 28,753 watched the match. In addition, the Brumbies finished top of the amalgamated ladder in both 2001 and 2004 and were Australian Conference Champions in 2016 following the competition reorganisation.
