Brumbies Representative Round-Up

It was a busy weekend of action for some of the Plus500 Brumbies representative teams this past weekend with the Brumbies U18 Academy, U16, U15 and Griffins sides in action.

ACT Griffins travelled to Dapto and defeated the Illawarra Rep side by 50-14 after leading by 29-0 at halftime). The side has now played three games with this win added to the victory over Brumbies Provincial (24-10) and the draw with Brumbies U19 (19-19) at the recent Capital Cup. The Griffins have one more match to play this season when they meet ACT Pasifika at Viking park on Saturday 28 September at 10:00am. This match precedes the Vikings v Fijian Drua NRC game at 12:00.

A brace of matches took place at Albury on Saturday as the Brumbies U16 and U15 teams took on their Melbourne Rebels counterparts in trial matches ahead of their respective championships. The Brumbies U16 side defeated the Revels 12-7 whilst the U15 team was also successful, coming out on top in their match by 26-19. Both the Brumbies U16s and Brumbies U15s will start their respective National Championships this weekend in Canberra with the first games on Sunday 29 September.

On Sunday, our Brumbies U18 Academy defeated Queensland Reds Academy White by 40-29 after leading 21-10 at the break. Following the match, which concluded the U18 competition in which the team had won three of the four matches they played, a contingent of five players were picked for the Australian Schools & U18 team. The side is scheduled to take on the Fijian Schools as well as the New Zealand Schools Barbarians culminating in the sides final clash against the New Zealand Schoolboys in Hamilton.

Brumbies U19 team will kick-off their championships on Saturday afternoon when they meet Melbourne Rebels at the AIS with kick-off at 12:30. Meanwhile, Brumbies Youth Boys (1 team) and Youth Girls (2 teams) 7s rep teams will participate at the Southern Highlands 7s on Saturday at Bowral in preparation for the National Youth 7s Championships later this year.
