This stands to be the Brumbies biggest test of the 2019 season to date.

The Brumbies Buildcorp Super W team face one of their toughest tasks of the season when they travel to Brisbane to tackle the Queensland Women’s team on Saturday evening with Coach Adam Butt selecting a strong, and enterprising, starting XV.

After their record-breaking 69-0 win over the Rebels at Seiffert Oval in Round 2, the Brumbies sat out the last round of fixtures in which Queensland were defeated 15-12 by New South Wales in a high-quality exhibition of Women’s rugby.

The challenge posed by the Queensland side at Ballymore will be met head on by Brumbies skipper Shellie Milward who leads a pack loaded with talent, strength and pace who will need to be on their mettle from the opening whistle.

Milward is partnered at lock by Emily Sogal and the duo pack down behind an experienced front row trio, including Wallaroos Violeta Tupuola at prop and Louise Burrows at hooker. Ever-present tighthead Peta Cox completes the front three, who will be the heart and soul of the engine room.

At the back of the pack, Michaela Leonard continues alongside Wallaroos flanker Georgia O’Neill with the rampaging Tayla Stanford, scorer of a hat-trick against the Rebels in Queanbeyan, reprising her role at number eight.

Remi Wilston is the preferred halfback option at number nine, with the playmaking duties reverting to Carly Hill at flyhalf. Sammie Wood and Michelle Perry continue at centre with the back three of Brooke Gilroy, Darcy Read and Rachel Crothers all eager to get their hands on the ball in open field.

There’s a new addition to the bench this week with Sammie Maxwell included in the matchday twenty-three for the first time and set for her Buildcorp Super W debut.

The match with Queensland kicks off at 6pm AEDT (5pm local time) with the action being broadcast live on www.kayosports.com.au and www.rugby.com.au with a delayed broadcast on Fox Sports 503 later that night.
