31 Jan Brumbies Women Prepped for NSW Trial
The Brumbies Women team will hit the field for the first time in earnest this weekend when they meet their rivals from New South Wales in a pre-season trial match in Bowral.
With the Super W campaign looming ever closer, the test against the side who clinched the championship in dramatic fashion last season, is one of a pair of trial matches that new Head Coach Adam Butt will use to finalise his plans for the season opener later this month.
Michelle Perry will captain a side that includes several familiar names to followers of the Women’s fortunes in 2018, with Wallaroos internationals Louise Burrows and Violeta Tupuola also slated to take part.
Several players will also pull on the Brumbies Women’s jersey for the first time looking to stake a claim to be involved in the first Super W match of the campaign.
Last season, the Brumbies pushed New South Wales all the way in their Super W fixture at Warringah Rugby Club with the result of 24-7 seeing New South Wales pull away after the half-time score was 7-5 in the home sides favour.
After the NSW test, the Brumbies Women will face the Rebels ahead of the Super W competition which, like its predecessor in 2018, will comprise of five teams with each side playing each other once.
The match in Bowral will kick-off at 2pm with admission free.
