13 Mar Love Rugby? Plus500 Brumbies Have You Covered in 2018
Love your rugby? Well you are going to love 2018 at GIO Stadium as the Plus500 Brumbies host eight top quality fixtures throughout what promises to be an outstanding season in the national capital. And that’s not all. The Brumbies have a full program of pre-match action for you to enjoy prior to the Super Rugby matches kicking off! So, what’s on offer?
New players, new coaching team and the return of some fan favourites. What could be better than that? Well how about a home clash against our fiercest rivals. That’s right, the Waratahs are in town facing our home town Brumbies on Easter weekend with the match scheduled for Saturday 31 March.
And it’s not just at Super Rugby level that the interstate rivalry will be to the fore that day, as our pre-match entertainment comes in the form of what promises to be a right royal ding-dong affair as local boys Marist College take on their first XV peers from Riverview College in Sydney.
The mouth-watering Waratahs clash is one of three home matches the team will face against Australian opposition with the Reds and Rebels also due in Canberra on Saturday 7 April and Saturday 12 May respectively.
The former clash, with the Queenslanders travelling to the ACT, will see the second home match of the Buildcorp Super W season as the Brumbies Women XV takes on Western Australia in the first of two games that evening for supporters at the ground.
You can see the Women’s XV in action for the very first time in the Buildcorp Super W when they take to the GIO turf on Saturday 17 March for a rumble against the Queensland Women, prior to the Super Rugby match-up between the Brumbies and the Sharks, the season opener in Canberra.
As a special offer to celebrate this unique match in Super W spectators can pay just $5 entry at the gate, if you arrive in the first half hour of gates opening, specifically between 4.50pm- 5.20pm. How’s that for an offer?
If that’s not enough we have a pair of mammoth matches against our friends from New Zealand as the Super Rugby Champion Crusaders (Saturday 28 April) and Hurricanes (Saturday 30 June) come to town.
The Crusaders match takes place on our Military Round weekend with a curtain-raiser between ADFA and RMC sure to see sparks flying as these old foes go toe-to-toe. It will be the turn of the Vets to precede the Hurricanes match when they clash with the Navy Old Salts in what is sure to be the most social, yet invigorating, clash.
Let’s not forget the youngsters either! With two afternoon fixtures, the Jaguares on Sunday 22 April, and the Sunwolves, on Sunday 3 June, it’s the perfect chance to introduce the family to the Brumbies and with the ACT & SNSW Primary Schools Championships taking place before the Sunwolves game, the atmosphere should be loud and proud! To make this even more affordable for families, one junior (under 15 years of age) will get in free with each adult/concession ticket purchased through Ticketek.
With plenty on offer before the main event of Super Rugby, there’s sure to be something for everyone during the 2018 season! See you there?
