17 Jul Muirhead is ready for finals footy
Winger Andy Muirhead will be eyeing off a position in the Plus500 Brumbies squad for their upcoming home final against the Hurricanes on Friday night.
After recently signing a one-year contract with the club the 24-year old will now look to impress on the training park this week leading into the must win fixture.
The Queenslander has looked right at home in the blue and gold jersey this year scoring 10 points from just three appearances in his debut Super Rugby season.
The signing is not only a win for the club but also a huge win for Muirhead himself after leaving everything behind to come down to Canberra in pursuit of his Super Rugby dream.
“It’s defiantly paid off,” he said.
“It was pretty hard making the big decision to move down here with nothing guaranteed but that’s like a lot of people who come down here,
“I’m not the only one who comes down for opportunity. I guess that’s what the Brumbies are all about and the culture they have within the team makes it an even better place to come.”
Thrilled to have just locked in another season playing rugby in Canberra, Muirhead is just happy to be a Brumby for now but is ready to go if he is called upon for the Hurricanes games.
“I feel like I can contribute a bit more,” he said.
“I’ve been training hard away from here just trying to get myself physically and mentally ready for when I get another opportunity.”
Muirhead, along with his teammates will be looking to cause an upset over the Hurricanes come Friday night and will be hoping that a big home crowd will get them over the line.
The Brumbies will lock horns with the Hurricanes at GIO Stadium at 7:45pm this Friday night, get your tickets today at Ticketek.com.au
