Brumbies re-sign lock Enever

Plus500 Brumbies lock Blake Enever has re-signed with the franchise on a new three-year deal.

25-year old Enever joined the Brumbies in 2015 and has been a consistent performer for the side ever since, making 29 appearances for the side so far during his time in Canberra.

The former Easts Tiger, who played in the Queensland Premier Grade competition, is noted for his incredible speed and a high work rate, proving himself as one of Australian Rugby’s brightest prospects at the lock position.

“I am very happy at re-signing for the Brumbies and am looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead as a senior player in the squad,” Enever said.

“Since I signed for the Brumbies, I feel that I am becoming a better player day by day and am delighted that my future will be with this franchise. There’s a lot of exciting times ahead for the Brumbies and I am looking forward to being part of it.

“We have lots of quality players in every position and competition for spots is intense but I love that kind of challenge. It makes you raise your game to higher levels and we are lucky to have an excellent coaching staff at the club.

“The Brumbies have been a consistent challenger for the Super Rugby crown since its inception and I am sure we have the ability and skill to be at the top end, and fighting for the title, this year and for many years to come.”

As well as his consistently solid displays in Super Rugby, Enever has also been a standout performer for the UC Vikings in the NRC, helping the side to the 2015 Grand Final and becoming a part of the side’s leadership group in 2016.

Plus500 Brumbies CEO Michael Thomson said he was pleased to have secured Enever’s services for 2018 and beyond.

“We are extremely happy that Blake has decided to commit himself to the Brumbies,” Thomson said.

“He has exactly the kind of qualities that we are looking for in a Brumby. He is young, enthusiastic and has a tremendous skill-set both at the set-piece and in the loose. His attitude is first rate and we anticipate a very exciting future for him.

“We have a well-earned reputation for giving young talent the opportunity to shine and I am sure that Blake, along with all of our other recent re-signings, will help to drive the club forward into the future.”

The Plus500 Brumbies are in action in Singapore this week as they take on the Asia Pacific Dragons for the Austbrokers Canberra Cup at Queenstown Stadium on Thursday evening. The match will be streamed live on our website and Facebook pages.
