Junior Player Pathway Course This course deals specifically with the Pathway game of Walla Rugby. It covers both the coaching and refereeing of the game. While the course does not provide accreditation it is an excellent introduction to Walla Rugby. This course is perfect for the mother/father who volunteers to coach or referee and also provides an ideal introduction to rugby for High School & College students. It covers all the basic laws associated to the Pathway games of Walla/Mini/Midi. This course is a short 3 hour introduction to the laws and will provide the participant with sufficient knowledge to begin refereeing immediately. The aim of course is to provide coaches and referees with the ability to identify and coach/referee correctly the roles a player will perform in a match and to facilitate a game. The course is 8 hours in duration and requires no assessment tasks or exams. Participants will be required to complete a Coaching/Law/Safety exam (100 questions), complete workbook and be assessed on competencies in planning, group management, communication and teaching skills. Mentor coaches will assess participants during a training session in which they will determine competency. Participants should be coaching junior/senior Rep team or Under 16 or above and have held Level 1 Coaching Accreditation for a minimum of one year prior to attending the course. Assessment includes demonstrating competencies in planning, communication, reviewing and game application. The Seminars are aimed at presenting the most up to date coaching and technical information for coaches from Grade, Colts, Open School and Representative teams. Participants should be currently accredited Level 2 coaches and above. Core skills of catch/pass, breakdown skills, defence will be covered with specific set play (scrum/lineout/restarts) on request.
