Runners ravage Australian Barbarians
Friday, 5 March 2010 Brumbies Media Unit
The Brumby Runners have comprehensively defeated the Australian Barbarians 40-0 at Canberra Stadium this evening. The Runners piled on five first-half tries to lead 33-0 at the break with fullback Jesse Mogg scoring an outstanding chip-and-regather try from his own 22-metre line on the stroke of half time. With the rain making conditions increasingly greasy, replacement hooker Nathan Charles was the lone try scorer in the second term, helping advance his side’s margin to 40 points. Centre Andrew Smith, scrumhalf Anthony Dawes and flanker Henry Vanderglas turned in strong performances for the Runners and were each rewarded with first-half tries. The Runners will next take on the Junior Waratahs at Sydney’s Knox Grammar on Sunday, 14 March.
