Macdougall Medal and Presentation Dinner


The 2008 Macdougall Medal and Presentation Dinner was held Friday 15 August. A crowd of almost 240 people involved in rugby in the ACT and Southern NSW came together at the Canberra Southern Cross Club in Phillip to recognise the achievements and contributions made to rugby over the past twelve months.

The awards presented on the evening were:

  • Colts Minor Premiership - Queanbeyan Whites RUFC

  • Gus Vallance Memorial Trophy: Highest Point Scorer Premier Division 1st Grade - Henry Seavula (Queanbeyan RUFC)
  • Helen Taylor Trophy: ACT Women's Rep Player of the Year - Lindsay Morgan (Royals RUFC)
  • Bill Priest Trophy: Monaro Rep Player of the Year - Matt Chalker (Taralga RUFC)
  • Graham Gordon Memorial Trophy: Best and Fairest U20 - Kesomi Lolotonga (Royals RUFC, Brumbies Academy, Brumbies Runners)
  • Tommy Byrne Memorial Trophy: Best and Fairest ACT Player - George Smith (Brumbies, Wallabies)
  • Michael Hickey Memorial Trophy: Coach of the Year - Glen Christini (Queanbeyan RUFC)
  • Second Division Best and Fairest Player of the Year - Peter Henderson (Bungendore RUFC)
  • First Division Best and Fairest Player of the Year - Will Grogan (Yass RUFC)
  • Anderson Trophy for Sportsmanship - Jack Vanderglas (Easts RUFC)
  • HS Quinn Trophy for Services to Rugby - Paul Maguire (Royals RUFC)
  • ACT&SNSWRU Volunteer of the Year - Anthony Radcliffe (Easts RUFC)
  • Peter Lawler Trophy for Referee of the Year - Brett Bowden (ACT Rugby Referees Association)
  • 2008 Macdougall Medalist - Sokai Tai (Royals RUFC)
