Mark Chisholm remains one of the most destructive lock/back-rowers in Australian rugby. The powerful 197-centimetre, 115-kilogram colossus continued to hone his explosive running game during 2007. Along with his tireless general play and dominance in the lineout, he finished the season with three tries, including keeping the CA Brumbies’ finals hopes alive with a last-minute, bonus-point try against the Highlanders in Dunedin. Chisholm’s consistent form throughout the season led to his runner-up performance in the Brett Robinson Players’ Player Award and maintaining his place within the national squad. Chisholm, who prior to the Rugby World Cup had the envious record of playing in all but two of the Wallabies’ last 34 Tests, added six caps to his international tally before being selected in the Wallabies’ World Cup squad. The 26 year old earned three caps in France, starting against Fiji and Canada, and coming off the bench against Wales. Chisholm, who has re-signed with the CA Brumbies for a further two years, will pack down alongside Alister Campbell, Adam Wallace-Harrison, Mitchell Chapman, Richard Stanford and Peter Kimlin in the second row this season.

Born in Gladstone, Queensland, Chisholm attended Nudgee Junior School and Gregory Terrace College. In 2001 he was admitted into the Reds Rugby College before graduating to a full contract with Queensland in 2002. Frustrated by a lack of opportunities with the Reds, he signed with the CA Brumbies for 2003. After seven appearances off the bench in his initial year in Canberra, Chisholm became a regular in the starting pack with a boom season during the CA Brumbies’ Super 12 Championship year in 2004. He made his Wallaby debut against Scotland on the 2004 Spring Tour and has been a regular in the squad since.
