Guy Shepherdson remains Australia’s leading tighthead prop. The 25 year old started in all but one Investec Super 14 match for the CA Brumbies in 2007, continuing his long-time propping partnership with Nic Henderson. Another strong provincial season resulted in Shepherdson starting each match against Wales, South Africa and New Zealand during the domestic Test season before earning selection for his first Rugby World Cup. A knee operation threatened to sideline the specialist tighthead before he responded by earning selection in each of the Wallabies’ World Cup matches in France. Trusted with one of the most scrutinised positions in Australian rugby, Shepherdson provides excellent coverage around the field and has developed his set piece play to be recognised as one of the country’s leading scrum exponents.

Born in Jakarta, Shepherdson was raised in Canberra where he attended Canberra Grammar School and was inducted into the inaugural Brumbies Academy squad in 1997. A testament to the success of the CA Brumbies’ program, Shepherdson was selected for the Australian Schoolboys in 1999, the Australian Under 19’s in 2001 and the Australian Under 21’s for three successive seasons between 2001 and 2003. Shepherdson, who has played with Bay of Plenty in the Air New Zealand Cup, made his first appearance for the CA Brumbies in their opening match of the 2004 Championship season against the Blues at Canberra Stadium and has missed just four matches since his debut. The hulking front rower made his Test debut against Ireland in Perth in 2006 before crossing for his first Test try in against Italy on the 2006 Wallaby Spring Tour. Shepherdson has now established himself as an integral member of the front line of the Wallabies’ scrum.
