2008 National Volunteer Recognition Program Process
Nomination Process Nominations must be made using the attached form. The submission, details of the person you are nominating, background information, and the contact details of a nominator are required. Nominations must be received by close of business (5.00pm AEST) on Friday 8 August 2008. Post, fax or email the nomination form and supporting documentation to the below address: ACT&SNSW Rugby Union Volunteer Recognition Program C/- Bill Milward PO Box 3865 Manuka ACT 2603 Fax: (02) 6206 8591 Email: b.milward@brumbies.com.au Nominees can be any of the following: Coach, Manager, Match Official, Sports Medicine (or Medical) Personnel, Club or Affiliate Office Holder, Club, Affiliate or School Administrator, Trainer, Curator, Gear Steward, Committee Member, Fundraiser or any other Rugby volunteer role within a club, school, affiliate or association. 2008 Nomination Form Click here to download a 2008 Nomination Form which can be emailed, posted or faxed back to the ACT&SNSW Rugby Union. Nominations must be received by close of business (5.00pm AEST) on Friday 8 August 2008. Conditions of Entry The following conditions of entry are to be used: • Instructions on how to enter and Volunteer Recognition Program form part of the conditions of entry. Entry into the Program is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry • Nominations must be lodged on the official form to ACT&SNSWRU • Late (for any reason), incomplete or incorrect entries are not eligible and will not be considered by the judges • Nominees must agree that information, images and photos received as part of the National Volunteer Recognition Program may be used by the ACT&SNSWRU and the ARU for publicity and promotional purposes and may appear on the Brumbies or ARU website and/or other promotional materials • The Australian Rugby Union reserves the right to display or publicise all nominations, and nominees may be required for media interviews • Nominees must agree to be nominated and consent to these Conditions • Nominee and Nominator must NOT be the same person • Nominations must be received by the ACT&SNSWRU by close of business (AEST) on the submission date Eligibiliy Criteria The following eligibility criteria is to be used: • Awards will not be granted posthumously • Groups of people or couples will not normally be eligible though in exceptional cases the Selection Committe reserves the right to consider such nominations • A person cannot receive the National Volunteer of the Year Award twice • Unsuccessful nominees may be nominated in subsequent years • Individuals can be nominated in only one state/territory (eg: a person who has moved interstate will be eligible for consideration in only one location), however previous contribution to Rugby in other states/territories should be included in the nomination form • Nominees must be in good standing with the Rugby Community and have no criminal record • Persons who are paid in any form (other than reimbursement for expenses) are ineligible for nomination eg: a person who is paid in a coaching, medical or administrative role Judging Criteria The following judging criteria is to be used in the selection of recipients: • Significant contribution to the sport of Rugby • Innovation and leadership • Demonstration of Community Rugby participation • Meeting an identified Community Rugby need • Meeting an identified region/zone, state or national Rugby need • Contribution of best practice principles • Contribution to Rugby within their state or territory union up to and including June 2008 Judging Process A Selection Committee of three representatives, from each State/Territory, will be responsible for selecting the State/Territory Volunteer of the Year recipient for the National Volunteer Recognition Program. One (1) nomination from each State / Territory Union's Selection Committee will then be submitted to the ARU Selection Committee for final review and selection of the National Volunteer of the Year. The Australian Rugby Union selection committee will consist of: • President, Australian Rugby Union • General Manager, Community Rugby, ARU • General Manager, Public Affairs and Communications, ARU The decision of the Australian Rugby Union Selection Committee is final
