UK Supporters Club
Hi All This will be nearly my last email for the season. Sadly the Brumbies failed to capitalise on their 4 tries last week against the Western Force and lost 29-22. They did manage 2 bonus points so ended the season in 9th spot. The horrendous run of injuries we had at the start of the season did us no favours although it did show that we have a fabulous depth in the brumbies stable. The Brumbies will be starting season 2009 with a new coach Andy Friend who has taken the Harlequins in the UK from relegation to nearly making the play offs so he comes with good credentials. We have also had some great new signings with Stephen Moore, Sitaleki Timani and Alfi Mafi coming to us for next year. There is also a whisper that they will try and bring Giteau back when he comes off contract next year. Thank you to all who turned up to watch the games and cheer the team this year. Also we must say congratulations to John and Linda on their new brumby supporter Viktoria. We will have an end of season pub crawl on Saturday May 31st [this weekend is the Bank holiday so know a lot of people who are away]. The time will depend on who makes the final but will let you know and look forward to seeing you then. Cheers Jenny
Happy New Year to you all and hope that Australia Day treated you well. If any of you want to be taken off the Brumbies Overseas Supporters email please let me know and if you know of anyone who wants to join us put us in touch. This will be an exciting season as we have now sadly farwelled all of the original players and we have some new talent to join the likes of Mortlock, Smith, Gerrard, Shepherdson and others. For those of you who are interested in stats. Average age of the Brumbies 24 years. The squad have approximately 850 Super caps and 300 Test caps between them. We have 11 wallabies,7 Aust A representatives and 9 players who were part of the successful 2004 team. George Smith will captain the side until Mortlock returns from his shoulder injury which required a reconstruction. Apart from the 2 warm up games the real fun begins on Fri 15th Feb against Canterbury in Christchurch. We have 7 home games this season. I am expecting that the venue to watch the games will be at the Shepherds Bush Walkabout as Scott has looked after us well for the past few seasons. This season will trial some new laws to keep us guessing what the refs are up to! Also, looking at the flood of players and coaches out of South Africa and New Zealand these should be very interesting times. Each week around Wednesday you will be notified as to when we can see the game. Looking forward to seeing you all to support the fantastic Brumbies team. Cheers and go the Brumbies Jenny My email is: UKSupportersClub@brumbies.com.au
