A veteran of the University of Canberra Brumbies and the Super Rugby competition, Clyde Rathbone returns for his seventh season of professional rugby in 2014.
All eyes were squarely focussed on Rathbone in 2013 as he made a remarkable comeback having not played any rugby since 2009. In all it was a highly successful year with the Wallaby winger making his mark in 11 games including Qualifier, Semi-Final and Super Rugby Final.
Born and raised outside Durban in South Africa, Rathbone made his way to the UC Brumbies as a 21 year old at the end of 2002. He had already made his Super Rugby debut with the Sharks and cut his teeth as a the captain of the champion, SA U21’s side in 2001, but a lifestyle change and chance to play for the UC Brumbies proved too good an opportunity to pass up.
Since then, Rathbone has developed into one of the Australia’s favourite players having worn the green and gold Wallaby jersey on 26 occasions.
