Jake White named Aussie Coach of the Year for 2013

University of Canberra Brumbies Head Coach, Jake White has been named Australian Super Rugby Coach of the Year at the end of season awards on Thursday.

The Brumbies mentor guided his side to the Super Rugby Final where it went down by five points to the Chiefs in Hamilton.

It was the first time the Brumbies had featured in play-off rugby since 2004, just two years after finishing the season a lowly 13th.

As winners of the Australian Conference, the Brumbies were also named the Australian Conference's Team of the Year.

Brumbies flanker George Smith was runner up to former Brumby, Michael Hooper as Player of the Year. Now a Waratahs player, Hooper beat Smith by a total of four points, 21-17.
