Unchanged line-up to challenge Waratahs

The University of Canberra Brumbies have named an unchanged team to face the Waratahs this weekend in Sydney after the side came through its Perth tour uninjured.

After starting the season with just 396 caps combined, the University of Canberra Brumbies will carry and extra 213 games under their belts with Head Coach Jake White enjoying the luxury of playing a similar side for the majority of the season.

The University of Canberra Brumbies will take the field with 609 caps, still 459 short of their opponents the NSW Waratahs who boast 1068 for Saturday’s clash.

Head Coach Jake White said his side had prepared well through the week and was now ready to take on the Waratahs on their home turf.

“At this stage there’s still a lot of rugby left for us, potentially we still have four games to play so in that regard it’s great to have been able to keep the same team together,” White said.

“To be fair to those boys they had a very strong first half last Saturday night.

“They’ve got 1069 Super Rugby caps and probably 400 Test caps, 11 Wallabies and they are a formidable opponent. Even though they’ve made some changed to their halves, they still have Wallabies on the bench and will pose a massive challenge for us.

“We’ve got to focus on executing well, doing the things we’ve done well all year both defensively and in attack and things should take care of themselves.”

Sydney has traditionally been a tough place for the University of Canberra Brumbies to travel having never won at ANZ Stadium and only claimed one win in Sydney back in 2002, walking away as 51-10 victors in the semi-final.

Since then the Brumbies have lost five straight in Sydney including the 2004 season when the ACT based side went on to claim the title.

The University of Canberra Brumbies leave for Sydney on Friday morning.
