NSW turn the screws on ACT Schoolboys

The ACT Schoolboys were beaten convincingly by NSW I on Wednesday afternoon, paying the price for a slow start.

Despite drawing the second half finishing 7-7, a 36-point half-time deficit proved too big to overcome with the final score reaching 50-14 in the sky blue’s favour. In the second 40 the ACT Schoolboys muscled up, competing at the breakdown and playing for field position.

Tries to back-rower Jordan Place and Joe Powell highlighted the match for the ACT side, with Powell again displaying the class required to play at the next level. Powell was joined by Neori Nadruku, Montana O’Neil and Dean Parragalli as the ACT’s best players.

The ACT Schoolboys final pool game of the National Championships is on Thursday against Victoria.

NSW I 50 bt ACT Schoolboys 14 (Joe Powell, Jordan Place tries; Jamie Bosman cons 2).
