Musashi Match of the Round:
Gungahlin (3) v Tuggeranong (1) Nicholls Oval, Nicholls
First Grade: 3.05pm, Reserve Grade: 1.40pm, Colts: 12.15pm

Fresh from having the weekend off, Gungahlin will be looking to inflict Tuggeranong’s first loss of the season at Nicholls this Saturday. With an impressive back row of Brumbies contracted player Ita Vaea, Xavier Duffy and Rutikha Illolahia, Gungahlin will be looking be very effective at the break down and disrupt Tuggeranong’s ball. Fly half Michael McMahon returns to the starting side while James Lovell slots into fullback and Liam McGrath comes in to the front row from second grade.

Tuggeranong secured their 9th consecutive win of the season last Saturday with an imposing 73-8 win over Easts at home. Hooker Pat Leafa crossed the try line on three occasions and Brumbies contracted player Zac Holmes added fourteen points with the boot. This Saturday’s game will be a tougher challenge as Vikings take on 3rd place Gungahlin in what will be a physical hit out. Robbie Kydd returns to the starting side at inside centre as Rodney Iona moves from inside centre to fly half.

Wests (2) v Queanbeyan (4), Jamison Oval, Jamison
First Grade: 3.05pm, Reserve Grade: 1.40pm, Colts: 12.15pm

Wests return home this weekend after securing a bonus point win away against Uni-Norths with Brumbies contracted players Fotu Auelua, Peter Kimlin and Jesse Mogg impressive in both attack and defence. Having won three in row, Wests will be looking to keep the streak running as they tackle a fast developing Queanbeyan who have now entered the top four. Ben Coutts returns to the front row as Ray Dobson moves into the hooker’s role and Jason Taylor come into the second row position.

After last Saturday’s convincing win at home against Royals, Queanbeyan, now top four contenders, will be full of confidence when they take on Wests. Blindside flanker JP Fenukitau will be looking to continue the form that he displayed last Saturday earning him Musashi Man of the Match honours. Contracted Brumbies players Anthony Hegarty and Leon Power will again start for Queanbeyan this Saturday, while Mathew Thorpe comes in from second grade to the outside centre position.

Easts (7) v Uni-Norths (5), Griffith Oval, Griffith
First Grade: 3.05pm, Reserve Grade: 1.40pm, Colts: 12.15pm

Easts are back at Griffith Oval this Saturday to take on Uni-Norths. Still looking for their first win of the season, Easts are hoping an improved effort in front of a home crowd will get them their first win. After a tough loss against Vikings, Adam Raszewski comes into the side to partner Brumbies contracted player Ben Hand in the second row. Sam Shirley will move into a reshuffled back row with Gus Limaleba playing No. 8 and Jonno Naoupu moving from No. 8 to inside centre.

Uni-Norths after showing glimpses of the team that achieved three wins in a row at the start of the season, again suffered another frustrating loss. The result now has them sitting outside the top four for the first time. Brumbies contracted players Ian Prior, Dylan Sigg and Tom Cox all showed last Saturday why they are in the Brumbies contracted squad with Sigg scoring a double and both Prior and Cox displaying dominating defensive and attacking efforts. Captain Bhiamie Williamson and promising back rower David Bennett add strength to the forward pack in their returns this weekend. Hooker Rein Donkin moves into the second row, with regular hooker Hugh Alexander back in the run on side.
