Three picked for Australian 20's

Three ACT boys have been selected in the Australian Under 20’s side which will compete at the Junior World Championship in Cape Town later this year.

Lewis Holland, Les Makin and Tom Cusack have all been given the nod after starring for their club sides over the last 12 months.

For Cusack, it’s a huge opportunity to be back in national colours after missing the  2011 Australian Schools calendar through injury.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to represent Australia, I played schoolboys in 2010 but got injured last year so this is exciting for me,” Cusack said.

“Having Lewis (Holland) and Les (Makin) involved will make things easier once we get into camp, we’ve played a lot of rugby together and are pretty good mates off the field.

“Our first game against Samoa in Sydney (24 May) will be very physical and then backing it up with games against Scotland, France and Argentina will be a great opportunity to play against some of the best 20’s in the world.

“I haven’t been to South Africa before, but they are very keen on their rugby over there so this is a huge opportunity for me and the rest of our team.”

The Australian side will battle a tough pool in Cape Town, needing strong performances over France, Scotland and Argentina to advance.

All three boys have been involved with the ARU’s National Gold Squad in conjunction with the Brumbies Academy over the last three years.
