The University of Canberra Brumbies have released Jono Owen from his contract effective immediately, allowing the 25 year old to accept a short term deal with the Melbourne Rebels.
With the University of Canberra Brumbies enjoying the services of six props, Owen would not have been given an opportunity to play Super Rugby in 2012.
Circumstances have worked out well for both Owen and the Rebels, who had been looking for a prop after several injuries in that position.
