The Snowy Hydro SouthCare Helicopter Base will be open to the public on Sunday April 1st from 10am – 3pm.
This a permanent fixture in Canberra’s event calendar, inviting members of the public to see their local rescue helicopter up close, meet the flight and medical crew, and enjoy a day of entertainment and activities for the whole family.
The entertainment schedule will include a live outdoor broadcast from MIX 106.3, performances from ‘Elvis’, Canberra Pipes and Drums, and local dance groups.
There will helicopter joy flights to purchase, jumping castles for the kids, and raffle prize giveaways throughout the day. Displays will be on show from Emergency Service personnel, Auto Italia Car Club, F.A.R.M, Street Machine cars and more.
Thanks must go to Rotary & Lions clubs who will be putting on a sausage sizzle to accompany the many vendors selling food and refreshments. For the adults there will be market stalls with specialty chocolates, jams & chutneys, and baked goods from local suppliers.
This year Snowy Hydro SouthCare has invited its past patients to the helicopter base for a patient reunion and to celebrate the ‘lives saved’ by the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter.
Since 1998, the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter has performed over 4600 missions.
