NT tour takes shape

With just over three weeks until the Brumbies play their first trial in Darwin, Jake White and the rest of the coaching staff have almost finalised their plans to tour Australia’s Top End.

Arriving on 2 February, the team will stay in Darwin until 7 February taking time to engage the community both in the city and throughout the Northern Territory.

While the match against the Force on 4 February is the ultimate focus of the trip, promotion of rugby, boosting the Brumbies and community engagement are also high priorities.

Visits to Nhulunbuy, the Tiwi Islands and Jabiru will be coupled with trips to local schools, hospitals and correctional facilities.

White said he was looking forward to the trip to Darwin. It will be White’s first appearance as Head Coach of the team and the first time the majority of the squad pull on a Brumbies jersey.

“It’s a momentous occasion for both me and the rest of the team, we are all new to each other and it’s been a long pre-season,” White said.

“Playing against the Force will be a huge challenge for us as a group but we feel prepared to take the challenge.

“I’ve never been to Darwin but I’ve heard it’s a special place. The chance to engage the community up there and promote the Brumbies and rugby in general throughout the Northern Territory is quite exciting.”

The World Cup winning mentor will travel to Darwin on 20 January for the Hottest 7’s, taking time to adjust to the heat and the laid back nature of Australia’s most northern city.

Please Note: The following is an advanced media schedule for the Brumbies tour of the Northern Territory. A final version will be distributed once confirmation of school and community visits has been established.
