The Brumbies Under 16 Representative squad travel to Sydney’s St Ignatius College this Sunday to compete against the best age group players in Australia.
The team, coached by Russell Ingram (Brumbies Rugby) and captained by Connal McInerney (Tuggeranong Vikings), has had a good preparation with close contests against Victoria and Sydney Juniors over the past two weeks.
‘We have worked really hard on our core skills over the past three months and have focused on more tactical decision making components of the game in the last few weeks” Ingram said.
“We will certainly be going into the championships as one of the underdogs, however we are hoping to spring a few upsets on the way.
"The way the boys have trained and played recently, I believe we will be more than competitive against the other states."
Teams from NSW Schools, NSW Country, Sydney Juniors, Queensland Red and White as well as Western Australia, Victoria and Brumbies make up the Division 1 Championship Pool. Brumbies will play NSW Schools on Monday, followed by Queensland White and Victoria, before the Finals day on Friday, 30 September.
