Handy man earns his 50th

CA Technologies Brumbies lock Ben Hand will earn his 50th Cap on Saturday night in Brisbane when his side takes on the table-topping Reds in one of Australia’s fiercest rivalries.

The steadfast lock has been a terrific leader in a tough year for the CA Technologies Brumbies, having played in every game and featured frequently for the club during the last three seasons after joining from the NSW Waratahs.

Hand came from the field after Friday’s Captain’s Run feeling refreshed and looking forward to clocking up his 50th in front of a hostile crowd at Suncorp Stadium.

“There’s nothing like a big-away crowd throwing everything at you, it really fires the boys up,” Hand said.

“One of my favourite rugby memories is an away game – beating the Stormers in Cape Town last year – there was a huge crowd there that day and being able to silence them was a very good feeling.
