White called up for Super Rugby debut

Scrumhalf Nic White is set to make his debut from the CA Technologies Brumbies bench this weekend, with the Eastwood playmaker being drafted into the side in the absence of Josh Valentine who is out with a hamstring strain.

White is one of just two changes to the CA Technologies Brumbies team which took on the Stormers last weekend, with Henry Vanderglas making his long awaited return to the top grade in place of Michael Hooper and Colby Faingaa – both are in Italy with the Australian Under 20’s.

“We’ve been pleased with the way Nic has developed during the year and we have no doubt that he is ready to take this challenge with both hands,” Rea said.

“His form with Eastwood has certainly warranted his selection in the Brumbies 22.

“Nic was also the Captain of the Brumby Runners this year and is a quality leader for such a young player.”

Patrick Phibbs will take Valentine’s place in the starting line-up.

Vanderglas has been plying his trade with the Australian Sevens team over the last two seasons, clocking up the frequent flyer points around the globe with Michael O’Connor’s team.

Despite outscoring the Reds four tries to one during their last encounter, the Queenslanders still managed to salvage a win at Canberra Stadium and the CA Technologies Brumbies will be doing everything in their power to return the favour at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
