The CA Technologies Brumbies have signed Cam Crawford and re-signed Peter Kimlin, both to two-year contracts.
Kimlin, a Wallaby who earned two Caps in 2009, has returned to the CA Technologies Brumbies in 2011 after missing the entire 2010 Super Rugby season with a nerve injury in his shoulder.
Since making his return, Kimlin has been one of the CA Technologies Brumbies best around the park. With 40 Super Rugby Caps to his name, Kimlin will be looked to for leadership over the next two seasons.
“It’s been something I’ve had to speak about with my family and manager over the last couple of months but in the end we came to the conclusion that the Brumbies was the right place for me,” Kimlin said.
“There was a bit of interest from other clubs but we are looking to build here in Canberra and it’s exciting to be a part of that process.
“I’m from the ACT and it’s been a pleasure to have played all my Super Rugby here, I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years.”
Also signing on for the next two years is outside back Cam Crawford.
A member of the Brumbies Academy in 2011, Crawford was offered a fulltime contract after starring for club side Northern Suburbs (Sydney) where he was last year’s second-top try-scorer in the Shute Shield.
At 1.93m high, Crawford adds a new dimension to the CA Technologies Brumbies backline, with the only other tall timber Andrew Smith just topping him off at 1.94m.
A former Sydney Grammar student, Crawford has been tipped to play fullback for the CA Technologies Brumbies next season.
“Fullback is probably where I feel most comfortable – I played all my junior rugby at 10 but the move to the outside backs has been great for my own game,” Crawford said.
“There was an offer from another Super Rugby team to make a move, but with Jake White coming in and the club looking to move forward I felt that the Brumbies was the right fit for me.”
The CA Technologies Brumbies will announce further additions to their 2012 playing roster in the coming weeks.
