CA Brumbies invite fans to Meet the Players

The CA Brumbies have called for all members and supporters to join them at Griffith Oval for the sixth annual ActewAGL Meet the Players Day from 11am on Saturday (6 February).

Following tonight’s final pre-season match against the Waratahs at Viking Park, the CA Brumbies will return to their Griffith headquarters on Saturday for the four-hour supporters’ session.

CA Brumbies players will be present to take part in a variety of activities including pass the ball, face painting, jumping castle and prize giveaways, as well as a photo and signing session.

ACT Junior Rugby Union clubs will also be present to register young players for the 2010 season. All ACT junior registered players receive a Junior Player Pass for access to all CA Brumbies home matches during the Investec Bank Super 14 regular season. McDonalds, a proud supporter of junior rugby union in the ACT and Southern NSW, will also be present with giveaways for junior players.

Brumbies Rugby CEO Andrew Fagan says the ActewAGL Meet the Players Day has become a Brumbies Rugby institution.

“The ActewAGL Meet the Players Day is unquestionably one of the most popular events on our calendar,” he said. “We staged the event at Brumbies Rugby headquarters last year and we received excellent feedback and great attendance from people wanting to come and look over the facility where the CA Brumbies train each day.

“Saturday is a great opportunity for our members and supporters to catch up with all the players, rub shoulders and get an autograph before they head off to play the Force in Perth for Round One.

“These events don’t just happen and we’re very proud of our ongoing partnership with ActewAGL in bringing Canberra and Southern NSW these fantastic community initiatives.”

CA Brumbies captain Stephen Hoiles says the event is an opportunity to repay the support the fans invest in the CA Brumbies.

“The ActewAGL Meet the Players Day is a great opportunity for the team to get to know the faces in the crowd and thank them for their ongoing support of the side,” he said. “The trials and demands of the Super 14 don’t often allow you to catch up with fans en masse like this and this is our chance to mix with our supporters and thank them for getting behind us this season.

“These are the people who stick by us in tough situations or who brave the elements at Canberra Stadium in the middle of May, and this is our chance to show our appreciation to them for continually supporting the Brumbies.”

ActewAGL Director Sales, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe says the ActewAGL Meet the Players Day is just one of the joint community ventures between ActewAGL and Brumbies Rugby.

"We're proud to be working with the Brumbies in supporting their community initiatives, particularly through the Meet the Players Day and the annual Country Visits program, which play a vital role in sparking the interest of the community in sport and active lifestyles," he said.
