The CA Technologies Brumbies are celebrating the signature of one of Australia’s most promising young talents, with Colby Faingaa agreeing to a two-year deal on Wednesday.
Having debuted for the CA Technologies Brumbies against the Chiefs last year, Faingaa went on to claim six caps in the 2010 season and has featured in every fixture of 2011.
Faingaa is a local product having grown up in Queanbeyan. A St Edmund’s College old boy, Faingaa said he was proud to be given an opportunity to represent his local region for another two years.
“My family live just over the boarder in Queanbeyan and I’ve lived in the area all my life, so being given the chance to represent the ACT for another two years is very exciting,” Faingaa said.
“Committing to a two-year deal was one of my goals at the start of the year – it’s just part of what I want to do in rugby and where I want to get to.”
A smart defender and potent ball runner, CA Technologies Brumbies coaching staff see great potential in the young star and were thrilled to announce his signature.
“Colby is a local player who has shown us he has the potential to be a massive asset for the team moving forward,” Head Coach Tony Rea said.
“We are confident Colby will develop further as a player over the next two years and we are looking forward to seeing where that will take him.
“It’s pleasing to have players like Colby coming up through the John I Dent Cup. He and the other six players added to the fulltime squad this year from the Academy are all measuring up to what is expected of them as professional rugby players.”
The younger brother of Queensland Reds pair Anthony and Saia Faingaa, Colby has developed quickly since representing the Australian Schoolboys in 2008, making his Australian Under 20’s debut in 2010 while playing for the Tuggeranong Vikings.
