Saia Faingaa has been named captain of the Australian Under 19 team that will compete in this month's IRB U19 World Championship in Dubai.
Faingaa was in the 2003 and 2004 Australian Schoolboy teams and was a standout for the Australian Under 19s in last year's World Championship campaign. He has been a member of the Brumbies' Academy for two years before moving onto a Rookie Contract at the end of last year.
This year he seized upon the opportunity created by a calf injury to Wallaby hooker Jeremy Paul to make his Tooheys New Super 14 debut. He came off the bench for the Brumbies against the Stormers in Cape Town in Round Three and has since played off the bench against the Cats, Sharks and Blues.
Faingaa's twin brother Anthony, also from the Brumbies Academy, has been named vice captain of the Australian U19s alongside last year's Australian Schoolboys captain Pat McCutcheon.
The team plays the Sydney University Colts this evening and flies out for Dubai on Wednesday.
