CA Technologies Brumbies fullback Pat McCabe has been ruled out of Saturday’s match against the Waratahs with a hamstring injury.
McCabe suffered the injury late in the week while running at training.
“It’s obviously pretty disappointing to have to miss the game against the Waratahs, the local derbies are the games you really get up for especially when you’re playing at home,” McCabe said.
“But it’s important that we get this right and that we have the correct processes in place to make sure I’m back as soon as possible.
“The changes that have been made to fill my position are very strong – Coopy [Adam Ashley-Cooper] has played a lot of fullback so I’m sure the boys will play well.”
Team physio Tim McGrath said the results from the scans had come as a relief and that he was looking forward to seeing McCabe back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
“Scans yesterday were encouraging, they displayed only minimal damage shown at the hamstring,” McGrath said.
“The decision was made to rest McCabe as a precaution and we expect to see him back playing in a short amount of time.”
