The University of Canberra Brumbies are calling for nominations via their Facebook page for the Supporter’s Choice – Stallion of the Year Award, to be presented at the Brumby Ball, August 30.
The Stallion of the Year recognises UC Brumbies supporter’s favourite player over the 2014 Super Rugby season, with the Brumby Ball the inaugural presentation for the award.
Voters will be collated and one entrant will win tickets, accommodation, transfers to and from the event and entry to the after party, for two people. The winner must organise their own transport to and from Canberra. Only one vote will be counted from each Facebook account.
The award was developed with the help of Foundation Member Trevor Hancock and his son Josh, who moonlight as unofficial mascots Brumby Man and Brumby Boy. Trevor said it was exciting for fans to be able vote for their favourite players.
“This is a great chance for fans to get behind their favourite players, it takes two minutes for you to have a say and enter the competition,” Hancock said.
“I’d encourage all Brumbies fans to jump onto Facebook and get your votes in. Although it would probably be a bit rich for me to win the prize I’ll still be casting a vote.
“I’ve got a few favourites, but I’ll be keeping my cards close to my chest until voting opens. You’ll have to jump onto Facebook to see who I send my nomination.”
Voting opens on Wednesday and will close at midnight, August 24. The winner will be notified via Facebook on August 25. You can access the UC Brumbies Facebook page here.
